ashTEC
Building Skills. Growing Businesses. Strengthening Communities.
ashTEC is the education, workforce, entrepreneurship, and business-development arm of Blue Ocean Legacy.
We work alongside individuals, businesses, Tribal and rural communities, nonprofits, and community partners to turn ideas into opportunity. Through practical training, technical assistance, consulting, workforce development, and entrepreneurship support, ashTEC helps people build the skills and systems needed to grow sustainable businesses and stronger local economies.
Our work connects education directly to economic opportunity, whether that means helping an entrepreneur launch or scale a business, supporting producers entering regional markets, preparing workers for new careers, strengthening organizational capacity, or helping communities develop programs designed around their own needs.
Our work includes:
- Entrepreneurship and small-business development
- Workforce training and career pathways
- Business technical assistance and consulting
- Grant strategy and organizational capacity building
- Agricultural and producer business development
- Rural and Tribal economic development
- Online and community-based education
- Partnerships connecting businesses, educators, funders, and communities
At its core, ashTEC is about creating pathways. Learn something. Build something. Grow something. Create opportunity that stays in the community.

The Collective & Where Our Roots Grow Deep
Growing Food. Connecting People. Strengthening Regional Economies.
The Collective & Where Our Roots Grow Deep brings together agriculture, local food, producers, markets, education, and community to strengthen the systems that nourish a region.
Our work supports farmers, ranchers, growers, food entrepreneurs, and community partners by creating stronger connections between what is produced locally and the people, businesses, institutions, and markets that need it.
From backyard growers and emerging producers to established agricultural businesses, we believe more people should have the opportunity to participate in the local food economy. By expanding access to education, shared resources, aggregation, distribution, market opportunities, and regional partnerships, we can help turn local production into sustainable income while keeping more food and economic value within the communities where it is grown.
Our work is focused on:
- Regional food systems and food hubs
- Farmer, rancher, and producer development
- Market access and distribution
- Small-scale and backyard production
- Food entrepreneurship and value-added products
- Agricultural education and training
- Food security and community resilience
- Farm-to-community and institutional connections
- Regenerative and locally rooted agriculture
Where Our Roots Grow Deep is about more than growing food. It is about growing opportunity, resilience, connection, and a regional economy from the ground up.

The Edge of The Monument
Where Tourism, Entrepreneurship, and Community Meet.
Set within the extraordinary landscape of the Navajo Nation, The Edge of the Monument is being developed as a destination where visitors can experience the region while creating new economic opportunities for the people who call it home.
The project brings together tourism, hospitality, entrepreneurship, coworking, local vendors, events, and community gathering spaces within one connected development. From RV and tent camping to glamping, markets, business resources, and cultural experiences, The Edge of the Monument is designed to encourage visitors to stay longer, experience more, and spend locally.
Just as importantly, it creates infrastructure for local entrepreneurs. Vendors, artisans, food businesses, guides, service providers, and emerging businesses can connect with visitors and gain access to new markets without having to leave their community to find opportunity.
The vision includes:
- RV, tent camping, and glamping
- Coworking and business resources
- Local vendor and artisan markets
- Food and hospitality opportunities
- Event and gathering spaces
- Tourism and visitor experiences
- Small-business and entrepreneurship opportunities
- Connections to regional destinations and attractions
The Edge of the Monument is not simply a place to visit. It is a place designed to turn tourism into local opportunity and create an economic gateway for the region.

CHIA
Building Housing. Creating Stability. Strengthening Communities.
CHIA focuses on one of the most fundamental pieces of a thriving community: having a place to call home.
Housing is more than shelter. It affects whether businesses can recruit and retain employees, whether families can remain in their communities, and whether rural economies can grow. CHIA approaches housing as an essential part of community and economic development.
By connecting housing development with workforce needs, local partnerships, infrastructure, and long-term community planning, CHIA works to expand housing opportunities that support both people and the places where they live and work.
Our focus includes:
- Workforce and attainable housing
- Rural housing development
- Housing connected to economic development
- Community-centered development
- Partnerships with local governments, employers, and organizations
- Infrastructure and development planning
- Innovative approaches to housing accessibility
- Long-term community stability
Because strong communities need more than jobs and opportunity. They need places where people can build their lives, put down roots, and stay.
